CfPS Law School Partners with Distance Learning Centre (DLC), to Expand Learning Opportunities for students
View(s):CfPS Law School recently joined hands with Distance Learning Centre Ltd (DLC) in offering a range of courses for school leavers and professionals. The DLC is a fully State Owned Institute functioning under the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government. DLC has provided over 21 years of service in facilitating new learning and knowledge sharing to both the Public and Private Sector Personnel.
CfPS Law School which is registered as the CfPS Academy for Legal Studies stands as the iconic leader in private legal education in Sri Lanka and is a registered Centre of the University of London, signifying its dedication to fostering excellence in teaching and student support. CfPS offers the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law and Bachelor of Laws degree programmes (LL. B) of the University of London. With a distinguished history spanning over 30 years, its alumni have successfully integrated into the legal profession as members of the official as well as the unofficial bar, legal academics and legal activists.
This is an extract of the interview that we had with Mr. Sapumal Bandara L.LM (UK), Attorney-at-Law, Joint Managing Director of CfPS Law School.
Q: Can you briefly explain what this partnership is all about?
CfPS together with DLC launched a Regional Partnership Model (RPM) Initiative and CfPS has been selected a Regional Centre of DLC which is a remarkable milestone for CfPS. As a first step, CfPS has been approved to deliver and offer Advanced Diploma programmes for which participants will receive a globally recognised certificate through DLC. The partnership between DLC and CfPS Law School marks a significant stride in the evolution of education. As this partnership unfolds, it has the potential to set a precedent for innovative educational models that prioritise accessibility, sustainability, and excellence. DLC provides detailed curricula for each programme and facilitates delivery of programmes at CfPS. DLC releases counter-signed certificates to students who fare well at the assessment process.
CfPS will deliver courses through recognised and qualified lecture panels, maintaining quality of delivery in line with government rules and regulations for private and vocational education institutes and ensure a proper assessment and evaluation process.
Q: What are the courses that are on offer through this partnership?
Advanced Diploma in Management and Information Technology.
Advanced Diploma in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science
Advanced Diploma in Counseling & Applied Psychology
Diploma in Professional English
Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management
These above programmes are SLFQ 3&4 regulated Advanced Diploma programmes. These Advanced Diplomas are designed to help learners develop essential skills and techniques and personal qualities which will enable them to make an immediate contribution to employment. This programmes also provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for future studies and career progression.
This course is accredited by the Government and the qualification is approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hence a recognised qualification offered by the Government of Sri Lanka.
The final Certificate will be offered by the Distance Learning Centre.
An SLQF (Sri Lankan Qualifications Framework) regulated qualification. This is a nationally consistent framework for all higher educational qualifications offered in Sri Lanka.
Reasonable course fee, which can be paid in monthly installments. Student loans are available at very low interest rates.
DLC will be responsible in issuing the final certificate to all students who successfully complete these programmes at CfPS. DLC will also provide confirmation certificates, endorse the true copy of certificates. DLC will facilitate with CfPS in addressing student grievances and will provide career guidance to students.
Learners will be evaluated by 40% on continuous assessments such as tutorials, examinations, presentations, case studies, viva voce and group activities where as 60% will be on end semester evaluation which is the final assignment report.
