LHI completes a Coastal Protection Consultancy Project in Ajaccio, France
View(s):Lanka Hydraulic Institute Ltd (LHI), a pioneer in engineering consultancy in Sri Lanka completed a major coastal protection consultancy work in Ajaccio, France.
France has awarded LHI the third coastal stabilisation work in Ajaccio, after its beach restoration project in Cannes and port rehabilitation work in Bormes les Memosas, a company media release said.

It added that CREOCEAN, a French engineering consultancy company, has proposed a series of submerged coastal protection structures for Saint Francois bay, a natural attraction in Ajaccio. LHI tested these structures at its physical model basin, one of the largest in South Asia, equipped with computer-controlled wave makers to accurately and practically check the design of structures before construction.
LHI undertook 18 projects during the last financial year, elevating the annual turnover upto Rs. 277 million. Almost 70 per cent of the turnover is earned from foreign projects. Maintaining the correct mix of projects alongside with prudent, far-sighted policies have reverberated this success, its CEO, Engineer J.K.P. Kurukulasuriya was quoted as saying.
