Belgium university students on a field trip to Sri Lanka
View(s):A group of 23 final-year university students of the Tourism and Recreation Management Programme of the VEVES University in Bruges, Belgium will arrive in Sri Lanka on a field trip.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Belgium, Chandana Weerasena briefed the group prior to their departure to
Sri Lanka.
The field trip is a part of their study programme. Governor of West-Flanders region in Belgium, Carl Decaluwe; Mayor of Bruges, Dirk De Fauw; the Rector and several other senior staff members joined the briefing.
The ambassador and other guests also witnessed the culinary talents of the international students at the Flanders Culinary Arts Centre of VIVES University.
The Embassy and the VIVES University are working towards organising a Lankan culinary session at the Flanders Culinary Arts Centre of the University.
During the programme, Ambassador Weerasena conducted a comprehensive presentation covering Lankan tourist attractions, specialised sectors in tourism and hotel industry, sustainable and eco-tourism in Sri Lanka, and also explained why European tourists should consider Sri Lanka as their next destination.
