Pera Uni Alumni Colombo Chapter celebrates World Children’s Day 2024

Sri Lanka celebrated World Children’s Day on October 1 offering an opportunity to promote and celebrate children’s rights that will build a better world for them. The Management Council of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya, Colombo Chapter selected the Katumuluwa Junior School, Kanaththewewa in Paduwasnuwara Division of Kuliyapitiya Zone in North Western Province to enhance the library facilities of the school on this day.

AAUP Colombo Chapter donated 450 books, stationery and school supplies for the school library and students.

In addition, the donation of two gymnastic mattresses will be immensely helpful to the school team selected to represent the North Western Province at the forthcoming All Island School Aerobic Gymnastics Tournament which is an opportunity to recognise the talents of the school athletics represented in every province of Sri Lanka.

The donations were made at the school on October 1 represented by members of the Association together with the principal, staff of the school, students and parents. A tree was planted at the school premises to commemorate the event.

commended the activities of AAUP Colombo Chapter which promoted the physical and mental well being of the children of this
rural area, Association secretary Palitha Siyambalapitiya said.
