The play ‘Guru Geethaya’ goes to Negombo
View(s):- Theatre version of Chingiz Aitmatov’s ‘The First Teacher’
‘Guru Geethaya’ Sinhala stage play made based on world renowned novel ‘The First Teacher’ written by Kyrgyz author Chingiz Aitmatov who wrote most of his writing mainly in Russian will be staged in Negombo on Saturday, October 26. Directed by Prof. Mangala Senanayake the play will be staged at Negombo Rukmani Devi Theatre in Negombo.
The story revolves around an ordinary teacher ‘Dyuyshen’ and his dear student ‘Altynai’ and the story depicts the crucial and important role played by dedicated teachers in mounding the future generation.
The play features Jayani Senanayaka, Anuradha Mallawaarachchi, Sudharshana Krishantha, Maali Jayaweerage while costume designing is done by Kamal Addaraarachchi. Music by Prabuddha Budipriya, Choreography by Jayani Senanayake, set design and make up by Chathura Dasanayake, Nayanthara De Silva and Yasantha Karunarathne respectively. Stage management is by Nethmi Ayathma Ranasinghe and ‘Guru Geethaya’ is produced Jude Srimal. (SF)
