Holy Family Convent, Colombo clinched the Basketball Championship of the National Schools Games, after comprehensively defeating St. Joseph’s Girls’ School, Nugegoda 60-34 in the final played at the Nalanda College courts.

On their way to the finals, HFC cagers overcame Holy Family Convent, Jaffna by 38-9 in the quarter-final, before outplaying Mahamaya Girls’ Schoo, Kandy 51-21 in the semi-final. Earlier in the preliminary rounds, HFC overpowered Mahajana College, Batticaloa by 41-14 to initiate a winning start to an unbeaten competition.

The Holy Family Convent Under-20 team, was captained Tiara de Silva with Sachika Abeypala as her deputy. The side included like Sinali de Vaas Gunasekara, Dihini Dharmadasa, Kavya Riyal, Kishuri Reiss, and Senuthmi Fernando, who were well guided by coaches Shane Daniel and Roshan Randima.
