Young Yehan David recorded a stunning debut win in the 2024 Euroformula Open Championship at Autodromo Nazionale de Monza in Italy yesterday. Starting fourth in the grid, David, 17, romped to victory, stunning other competitors including Brazilian Fernando Barichello, the son of legendary Formula 1 driver Rubens Barichello, firm favourites Francesco Simonazzi of Italy and USA’s Brad Benavides. Representing Team Motopark, David maneuvered well under greasy and wet conditions to become the first Sri Lankan race driver to participate in Euroformula Open Championship, having advanced from F4 racing. David will continue his adventure today at the eighth and final of the 2024 Euroformula Open Championship series, which flagged off in April in Portugal.
