  • Guy Chambers on boy bands and mental health

Guy Chambers who helped write several of Robbie Williams hit songs since he went solo, has called for the end of teenage boy bands, following the tragic death of the former One Direction member Liam Payne on  October 16, at the age of 31. Chambers’ made the comment to a leading UK Sunday newspaper saying youngsters lacked proper protection. He added under 18s should be prevented from joining boy bands to protect their mental health. His comments echoed Sharon Osbourne who was a judge on X Factor, when she said that Payne had been let down by the music industry. Much has been spoken and written about Liam Payne’s meteoric rise to stardom. Days before his death, Liam Payne was dropped by his record label Universal Music, to which he was signed to since 2016. It has culminated with been horrific consequences of alcohol and substance abuse. Many lives have been lost as a result, owing to pressure and a toll on mental health.
