The Attorney General has assured the Supreme Court that steps would be taken to clear salary anomalies of Teacher Instructors.

The assurance was given when a Fundamental Rights Petition filed by All Island Teacher Instructors was taken up this week.

Deputy Solicitor General Yuresha de Silva appearing on behalf of the Attorney General acknowledged that the Teacher Instructors receive a lesser salary than teachers, as pointed out in the petition.

DSG Ms de Silva told courts that the Education authorities will resolve the issue of salary anomalies.

The petition seeking a ruling to remove salary anomalies was taken up before a bench comprising Preethi Padman Surasena and Janak de Silva.

Attorney at Law Nuwan Bopage appearing for the Petitioner association said that Teacher Instructors are severely inconvenienced due to the lower salaries they draw compared to teachers.

In accordance with the assurance given by the respondents including the Education Ministry Secretary the case was concluded.
