Montero with false number plates not Lohan Ratwatte’s

A jeep taken into custody by the Theldeniya Police, on suspicion that it was a vehicle used by former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte was found to have been owned by a close relative of a well-known kapuwa operating a devale in Galtenna.
Following information received by the Theldeniya Crime Division, the Mitsubishi Montero, with false number plates, was discovered concealed in a garage of an abandoned house within the Digana I.C.C. housing complex.
During police investigations, it was indicated that this jeep had been left at the residence by Mr. Ratwatte’s secretary, who was found dead with gunshot injuries earlier in the week.
Upon examining the vehicle police found an electricity bill and a receipt for a battery leading them to question the kapuwa’s nephew.
A senior police officer noted that the information provided by the nephew was inconsistent.
The vehicle in question
Investigations have revealed that the false number plates affixed to the luxury vehicle, was legally those of a Toyota Prado owned by a woman in the Menikhinna Pilawala area.
Investigation officers from the Theldeniya CID have also conducted inspections of a house belonging to the kapuwa’s nephew. Investigations have now commenced concerning twelve vehicles parked at the residential premises, which include two Defenders and two Prados as well as several other motor vehicles, motorcycles, and tractors.
The CID will conduct further investigations under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Roshan Amarasinghe.
