Kaya placed second in Thai Junior
Sri Lanka’s top amateur golfer Kaya Daluwatte has staked her claim as a strong contender in the ongoing Singha Thailand Junior World Golf Championship, ending the third round in second place with a total gross score of 223. The 16-year-old is now within one stroke of the leader, Vietnam’s Chuc An Lee, in Class AG at the Hua Hin Golf Course in Bangkok yesterday.
Daluwatte has shown consistency on the challenging 72-par course.
She carded an impressive 69 in the first round, followed by a 75 in the second, and a 77 in the third round yesterday. Her overall score keeps her close to Lee, who currently leads at 222 (71, 74, and 77). Hot on their heels, R. Ng of the Philippines holds third place with 224, making the final round poised for a thrilling finish.
Sri Lanka’s Reshan Algama, the country’s top-ranked amateur, also delivered a noteworthy performance. Algama shot an even-par round, which boosted him to 11th place with a three-round total of 233. His skillful play placed him among the top performers of the day, highlighting his potential to climb further in the final round. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Jacob Norton faced a tougher round, dropping to 14th place with a score of 237.
