Aiko Childcare Celebrates Annual Concert and Graduation Ceremony, Honouring The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Graduates

Aiko Childcare, a centre dedicated to nurturing children from infancy through age 12, recently held its Annual Concert and Graduation Ceremony at Sambuddha Jayathi Mandira. This year’s theme, inspired by the beloved children’s story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, symbolised growth and transformation, celebrating both Aiko’s preschoolers and the centre’s first graduating class of daycare management diploma students.
A Theme with Personal Significance
For Aiko’s founder and managing director, Mrs. Savithri Suduge, this theme held deep personal meaning. Sixteen years ago, during her time as an art teacher in Japan, Mrs. Suduge designed costumes for a children’s play based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar. By choosing this story, she hoped to reflect the journey of Aiko’s preschoolers, comparing their growth to that of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. “This story has always held a special place in my heart,” Mrs. Suduge shared. “Seeing our children embody this transformation was both meaningful and beautiful.”
Building Positive Connections Across Generations
This year’s event also emphasised Aiko’s dedication to strengthening bonds among children, parents, and grandparents. Parents and grandparents joined the celebration, fostering a supportive environment that highlighted the positive connections Aiko strives to create among families. Seeing multiple generations celebrate together reflected Aiko’s commitment to building a close-knit community where every family member feels valued and involved in each child’s educational journey.
A Milestone in Early Childhood Education
The event also marked an important milestone for Aiko, celebrating the graduation of its first class of daycare management diploma students from the Aiko Training Centre. This programme was created to develop future leaders in early childhood education, providing practical experience and a strong foundation in the field. Graduating these students demonstrated Aiko’s commitment not only to children’s growth but also to empowering the next generation of educators. “We are proud to see our graduates ready to make a positive impact,” said Mrs. Suduge.
Heartfelt Appreciation for the Aiko Team
Throughout the ceremony, Mrs. Suduge expressed heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated staff for their hard work and commitment to Aiko’s mission. “With just small guidance, my team has gone above and beyond. Your hard work has been a great relief for me, and I couldn’t be prouder,” she said. The Aiko staff played a pivotal role in preparing the event, from designing costumes to ensuring the theme came to life.
A Joyous Conclusion
As the celebration concluded, the hall filled with applause for the preschoolers, diploma graduates, dedicated Aiko staff, and all the parents and grandparents who came to show their support. The event was a true testament to the spirit of community and growth that defines Aiko Childcare.
Celebrating a Bright Future
Aiko Childcare’s Annual Concert and Graduation Ceremony was a memorable occasion, honouring the dedication of families, staff, and graduates. Here’s to the continued growth and success of Aiko and the valued connections that make each event so special.
