The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) is a global network of more than 18,000+ influential business leaders across 223 chapters in 87+ countries. EO provides a platform for business owners to learn, grow, and connect, fostering personal and professional development. Through mentorship, events, and initiatives, EO also supports future entrepreneurs, with programmes like the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) playing a key role in empowering the next generation. EO Sri Lanka has actively contributed to this mission by organising events that inspire young business minds and provide access to a global entrepreneurial network.
The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) started in 1998 with the goal of recognising and supporting undergraduate students who successfully balance academics with running a business. Since its inception, the competition has expanded significantly, reaching many countries and serving as a launchpad for some of the most innovative student-led ventures. It not only offers participants a chance to pitch their ideas but also provides mentorship, feedback from seasoned entrepreneurs, and valuable exposure to investors. Past winners have gone on to scale their businesses globally, turning their startups into established enterprises.
GSEA is open to undergraduate students who own and operate a for-profit or social enterprise that has been active for at least six months. Applicants must be enrolled in a recognised university or higher education institution at the time of applying. To participate, students need to submit an application on the official GSEA website, including a business overview, financial details, and a pitch video. Regional competitions, such as those organised by EO chapters like EO Sri Lanka, will select top participants to advance to the global finals. The finalists will compete for cash prizes, business coaching, media exposure, and access to EO’s vast network, giving them the tools and connections to grow their ventures. Applications for the 2024 GSEA are now open, inviting young entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and gain international recognition.
