OKI International School Awards Day 2024
View(s):The annual awards ceremony of OKI International School took place on October 26, at the Nagananda International Institute of Buddhist Studies, Manelwatta, Kelaniya. This grand event celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of students, with a total of 419 awards presented to high achievers across two distinct sessions: one for Grades 1-7 and another for Grades 8 and above.
Country Director of the British Council Orlando Edwards was chief guest for the first session, joined by guests of honour Panchalika Kulathunga from Cambridge, OKI Consultant Channa Gunawardena, and OKI alumni Krishanth Sukumaran. In the second session, Vice Chancellor of SLIIT Prof Nuwan Kodagoda was chief guest, alongside guests of honour OKI Network Chairperson Nirmalie Saparamadu, and notable OKI alumni Dr Amasha Fernando, Dr Tharseekan Pathmanathan, and Nisala Fernando, as well as other distinguished members of the Board of Management.
This year’s ceremony introduced a new highlight: special awards for progressive learners, honored as the “Emerging Stars of the OKI Network”. These awards recognised students who demonstrated remarkable growth, dedication, and potential. Additionally, top achievers in the GCE O/L and A/L (National and Cambridge Curricula) for the academic year 2023/2024 were celebrated for their academic success.
Adding vibrancy to the event, the stage came alive with dynamic performances by Blended Harmony, the OKI choristers, and talented dancers and drama groups, creating a lively and memorable atmosphere for all attendees. This awards day marked yet another milestone in OKI International School’s commitment to excellence in academics and extracurricular achievements.
