At the 16th graduation ceremony of the University of Visual and Performing Arts, held on November 7 at the Bandaranaike Memorial Hall, veteran writer, director and theatre activist Parakrama Bandara Niriella and veteran musician Hemapala Perera received honorary doctorates for their contributions, awarded by Chancellor Emeritus Prof Sunil Ariyaratne and Registrar Dr Chani Imbulgoda Mr. Perera is seen receiving the doctorate.
