Sri Lanka stickers at Masters World Cup in Auckland
The Sri Lanka Masters hockey team departed for Auckland, New Zealand, to represent the nation at the Masters Hockey World Cup 2024, taking place November from 6 to 16 at the prestigious National Hockey Centre in North Harbour. This global event, featuring teams from 26 countries, offers Sri Lanka a significant opportunity to compete on an international stage and showcase its hockey talent.
This marks the third time Sri Lanka Masters will participate in this prestigious tournament, having previously competed in 2018 in Barcelona, Spain, and in 2022 in Nottingham, England. In the past, Sri Lanka has achieved notable victories, including wins over Denmark and Italy, as highlighted by Duncan Devendra, the Secretary of Sri Lanka Masters Hockey Association.
The team, led by Nadith Kudagama, departed last weekend, and is composed of veteran national captains and accomplished players who have represented Sri Lanka at the highest levels of the sport.
