J’pura Uni felicitates achievers at 50th convocation
View(s):An honourary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree was conferred on Emeritus Professor Swarna Piyasiri, in recognition of her contributions recently.
The event took place at the 50th convocation of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura held at BMICH recently.
The event celebrated the conferring of degrees on 3,999 graduates, including 3,429 first degree holders, 479 MA recipients, 30 MPhil awardees, and 28 PhD graduates.
Chancellor Most Ven Dr Ittapana Dhammalankara Thero wished graduates all the best and urged them to use their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the world.
Vice Chancellor Senior Prof M M Pathmalal also congratulated the graduates.
The convocation culminated in a celebration highlighting the achievements of university graduates.
A highlight of the event was the bestowal of gold medals, a symbol of dedication and academic brilliance. Amongst the distinguished recipients, Dinul Thisura Doluweera from the Faculty of Medical Science emerged as the preeminent achiever, clinching 8 gold medals.
Following closely behind was Hasithi Tharuka Galhena from the Faculty of Medical Science, a scholar awarded 5 gold medals for her academic excellence.
