The Court of Appeal (CoA) has further extended the interim injunction suspending the election of office bearers of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) until December 11. The order was issued after considering three petitions challenging the election, and the Court has directed the respondent to file objections before the next hearing.

Deputy Solicitor General Manohara Jayasinghe informed the court that, as a result of the interim order, the activities of the CFSL have been completely halted. The case was heard before Justices Mohammed Lafar and P. Kumararatnam. Counsel for the petitioners, Piyumi Seneviratne and Hejaaz Hizbullah, argued that if the Election Committee had followed the proper process, there would have been no need for such petitions.

The petitions were filed by retired DIG K.P.P. Pathirana, a former President of the CFSL and Nimal Bulathsinhala, a Vice President, after Director General of Sports Dr. Shemal Fernando barred them from contesting the election.
