Band Aid will be back with the Ultimate Mix 2024 of ‘Do They Know Its Christmas?’ to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the original charity single back in December 1984. The revamped version which will be aired on radio in the UK tomorrow 25th November, will feature vocals from the chart topping versions of the song released in 1984, the 20th anniversary Band Aid II in 2004 and the 30th anniversary Band Aid III in 2014. Among them will be the late David Bowie and George Michael. The Ultimate Mix 2024 will be produced by Trevor Horn while the video will be made by Oliver Murray. The physical sales will start on 29th November. The backing band will comprise Sir Paul McCartney, Sting and John Taylor (Queen) on bass guitar. Thorm Yorke (Radiohead) on piano, Paul Weller, Damon Albarn (Blur), Midge Ure, Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead), Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet) and Justin Hawkins (Darkness) on guitar. ‘Do They Know Its Christmas?’ was co written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. Meanwhile Ed Sheeran who sang on the 2014 release has said he wishes his vocals did not appear on the new 40th anniversary version as his opinion has changed over the decade. He said would have respectfully declined if given the choice. Sheeran nevertheless wished the Ultimate Mix 2024 success in his social media comments.

Her life story has been in the pipeline for nearly four years. Originally the script was written by Diablo Cody, but in July it was revealed Madonna had been rewriting the script herself.
