SLCSP to mark United Nations Day for Solidarity with Palestine on Nov 29
View(s):The Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine will observe the United Nations Day for Solidarity with Palestine with a public event on November 29, 2024, at the Lighthouse Auditorium of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute, 24 Horton Place, Colombo 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The event will feature guest speakers Prof. Arjuna Parakrama and Prof. Liyanage Amarakeerthi, who are experts in the field of human rights and social justice. They will share their insights and expertise on the ongoing struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people, as well as the global implications of solidarity movements.
The event will also be attended by Marc-Andre Franche, UN Resident Coordinator for Sri Lanka, Hisham Abutaha, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Palestine in Colombo, and members of the diplomatic corps.
In addition, the event will also feature the launch of a book on the Palestinian question by one-time minister and opposition politician Imthiyaz Bakeer Markar.
The event aims to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of the Palestinian cause, reinforcing our commitment to advocating for justice and human rights.
