Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series focuses on ‘Pera Innovation Park’
View(s):The eighth session of the University of Peradeniya Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series was conducted last week in the Senate Room with the participation of VC Prof Terrence Madhujith and other academic staff.
Prof Roshan Dharshana Yapa, the Director of the Business Linkage, Innovation, Incubation and Technology Transfer Office, University of Peradeniya, was the speaker at the event. Prof Yapa spoke on “Pera Innovation Park: Elevating University of Peradeniya’s Global Standing through Innovations and Collaborations”.

The speech highlighted the importance of establishing an innovation park to promote research collaborations, establishment of industry sponsored research laboratories with leading industries, commercialisation of research findings, encouraging startups among staff and students, and providing research and technology support to small and medium-sized enterprises, ultimately uplifting the country on the Global Innovation Index.
The Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series aims to provide the university community with an opportunity to engage with and learn from eminent scholars in their respective fields of expertise. It serves as a platform for intellectual enrichment, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge within the academic community.
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes and Centres, Heads of Departments, and academic and non-academic staff attended the event.
