Ed Sheeran releases Christmas song
Ed Sheeran has released a new Christmas song ‘Under The Tree’. The song will feature in the animated film That Christmas which will be out on Netflix on 4th December. The idea for the song was floated by screenwriter, producer and director Richard Curtis who Sheeran’s home back in 2021. Meanwhile it has been revealed that Ed Sheeran has added a luxury office block to his real estate portfolio. The singer is reported to have paid £8.25 million for the refurbished office block in London’s Soho area. The 33 year old already owns 27 properties in London, including a sprawling estate in Suffolk. Sheeran’s London properties are located in Notting Hill, Holland Park, Hammersmith, Kensington, Whitechapel and Chiswick. His properties in England are estimated to be worth around £70 million.
Sam Fender scores highest new entry in UK singles chart
This week Sam Fender scored the highest new entry on the UK singles chart with his song ‘People Watching’. The song the lead single from his upcoming third album with the same title, debuted at No.4, to give the 30 year old his third career top 10 hit song at home. The song follows ‘Seventeen Going Under’ No. 3 (2021) and ‘Homesick’ with Noah Kahan No. 5 earlier this year. ‘People Watching’ which is a little reminiscent to the ‘Boys Of Summer’, the 1984 hit for Don Henley, is written by Sam Fender. His new album will be out on 21st February 2025.
Tate McRae secures the second highest entry on the UK singles chart
Tate McRae secured the second highest entry on the UK singles chart this week as her song ‘2 Hands’ debuted at No.8. The catchy song is taken from McRae’s album ‘So Close To What’. The song is also the 21 year old singer songwriter and dancer’s fourth UK top 10 hit song. Her last hit ‘Greedy’ peaked at No.3 in 2023.
Cher’s final album in the making
Cher is calling it day from music recording as she has announced her final album is in the making. The 78 year old who was inducted into the Rock And Roll House of Fame has been making songs since 1964. She released her greatest hits album ‘Forever’ in September to mark the 60th anniversary of her musical career.
Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin to receive Gershwin Prize for Popular Music
Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin are to receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Music. The song writing duo who have collaborated on some of the most famous and iconic songs will collect the prize in Washington DC. An all star tribute concert will be held for the event on 20th March 2025. Sir Elton and Taupin will become the third duo to receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Music following the duos Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 2012 and Gloria and Emilio Estefan in 2019. Meanwhile Sir Elton John has said he is having problems making new music since he caught an eye infection in France during the summer. Speaking on the Good Morning America show on 25th November, he added he can no longer see with his right eye. The 77 year old added his left eye had problems too.
