ASGs take PC oath
View(s):Two Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) at the Attorney General’s Department have taken oaths as President’s Counsel.
ASG Dileepa Peeris obtained his LLB from the Faculty of law, University of Colombo in 1996. He joined the AG’s Department as a State Counsel in 1997. He was promoted to Senior State Counsel in 2007 and Deputy Solicitor General in 2017. An alumnus of St Thomas’s College, Mount Lavinia, he served as lead prosecutor in the Gotabaya Rajapaksa Monument case, and attempted assassination of Maithripala Sirisena case.
ASG Shanil Kularatne joined the Department in 1997 after graduating from Sri Lanka Law College in 1996. He holds a Certificate in Commercial Law from the School of Law, City University, Hong Kong. He is Judge Advocate of Sri Lanka Navy and a board member of the Victims of Crime and Witnesses Protection Authority. He handled the VAT scam case, and journalist Mel Gunasekara murder case.
