View(s):The Josephian Christmas Carols titled, “ Gloria In Excelsis Deo“, “Glory to God in the Highest”, organised by St.Cecilia’s Choir, of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, was held on the 1st of December 2024, at the Stanley Abeysekera Sports Complex cum Auditorium.
His Eminence Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
For many of us, it is the most wonderful time of the year. “Christmas Cheer” is that thing which is often referred to by those who believe December is the season to be joyful. Without Christmas Carols, Christmas would not be Christmas. From Angel singing, bell ringing ebullience to deep, spiritual contemplation, nothing can match the Christmas Carol in terms of creating an atmosphere and the Josephian Carols, sung by the young Josephians and Teachers were simply overwhelming.
The Josephian Choir comprising 110 Choristers joyfully sang Christmas carols in English, Sinhala, Tamil, African and Latin Languages, filling the room with uplifting melodies, that were greatly admired and appreciated by the audience on that day. The tunes were wonderfully melodic and brightened the environment.
We deeply appreciate the wonderful Christmas message delivered by the Chief Guest, His Eminence Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, on the “inexplicable power of the life of Jesus”, “Christ came to redeem us”, “Christmas is a joy-filled experience of the reawakening of our hearts to the calls of Christ”, “Christmas is a feast of God’s love for us” and “ Let us celebrate Christmas by sharing the joy, love and selflessness”. His valuable presence was an inspiration to the audience.
Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, the Rector and Principal of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, also gave an interesting speech, that inspired the audience.
Following is an excerpt from a speech by him;
