Sir Rod Stewart returns to the Glastonbury
Sir Rod Stewart is returning to play at the Glastonbury music festival in England next year after 20 years. The 79 year old legend has said he was proud and ready to take the stage again according to a social media posting. He last played at the festival in 2002. Sir Rod will play the Legends slot in the Pyramid stage on 29th June 2025.
Ed Sheeran to perform in Bhutan and India
Ed Sheeran will perform in Bhutan and India as part of his Mathematics World tour in the South Asian region between January and February 2025. Sheeran will begin the South Asian sector of his tour in Timpu, Bhutan on 24th January at the Changlimithang Stadium, the first by a top international artist to the landlocked kingdom. He will play at six venues in India starting in Pune on 30th January. Sheeran will perform in Hyderabad on 2nd February, Chennai – 5th February, Bengaluru – 8th February, Schillong – 12th February and Delhi 15th February. Tickets for the Indian concerts will go on sale from 11th December.
The Weeknd to release a new album
The Weeknd is to release his new album ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ on 24th January. It is the third and final part of his musical trilogy following ‘After Hours’ in 2020 and ‘Dawn FM’ in 2022. Three songs have been released from the upcoming album, of which ‘Timeless’ with Playboi Carti has been the most successful track thus far.
Kendrick Lamar dominates the UK Top 10 singles
Kendrick Lamar dominated the UK top 10 singles chart this week as he secured three new entries. All three songs debuted with the surprise release of his new album ‘GNX’ which is only available digitally ahead of its physical release next year. Leading the songs on the top 10 singles chart is ‘Squabble Up’ at No.4. The song was used for Mercedes AMG’s Formula One promotional material a few months ago. The actual lead single from Lamar’s new album ‘Luther’ debuted at No.5. The artist collaborating on the track is SZA who also had a hand in penning some of the lyrics. ‘Luther’ also samples the Luther Vandross & Cheryl Lynn song ‘If This World Were Mine’ – written by Marvin Gaye. ‘TV Off’ is the third song to debut on the top 10 by Kendrick Lamar supported by the up and coming rap artist Lefty Gunplay.
Wicked soundtrack debuts on UK singles chart
The soundtrack of the movie Wicked has helped the song ‘Defying Gravity’ debut on the UK singles chart at No.7 this week. The track is performed by Cynthia Ervio and Ariana Grande. The song and were released on same day. For singer and actress Ervio the entry to the top 10 is her first. She branched into movie songs in 2018. ‘Defying Gravity’ is the 23rd top 10 UK hit song for Ariana Grande.
