MAS Holdings retain Mercantile title
MAS Holdings claimed the overall victory at the 15th Mercantile Swimming Championship 2024, after accumulating 559 points in the topmost corporate aquatic competition of the country, held at the Thurstan College Swimming Complex last weekend.
With the win, MAS Holdings claimed the overall title for the 11th occasion in the history of mercantile swimming competition, held for the 15th time. John Keells Holdings, with 524 points, secured the overall second position, pushing SriLankan Airlines to overall third position close behind with 520 points. With 342 points, HSBC finished at overall fourth position.
Over 500 swimmers from 33 teams representing top corporates, took part in the competition, annually organised by the Thurstan College Aquatic Club, and sanctioned by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU). Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Sampath Thuyacontha, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and an old boy of Thurstan College, graced the awards ceremony as chief guest.
