Unbeaten David Pieris Group crowned Mercantile champs
With an unbeaten record, David Pieris Group (DPG) men’s basketball team emerged as Division ‘B’ champions at the 32nd Mercantile Services Basketball Association’s (MSBA) League Tournament. The thrilling final match, held at the Royal College Sports Complex, saw David Pieris Group dominate CDB with an impressive score of 92-60.
The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, Vipushan Kanesarasa of DPG, from its Jaffna Regional Office, delivered an outstanding performance, scoring the final-high 23 points, further cementing David Pieris’ remarkable journey through the league.

The team’s unbeaten streak throughout the tournament included resounding victories against formidable opponents Sampath Bank (70-62), John Keells (86-65), Seylan Bank (82-75), HNB (92-68) and CDB (88-73) in the group stage.
