‘Hallelujah – Our God Reigns’ at Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Mount Lavinia
View(s):The choir of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Mount Lavinia presents ‘Hallelujah – Our God Reigns’– a worship service of Nine Lessons and Carols, celebrating the nativity of Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 21 at 6 p.m. at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, 80, Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia.
Interspersed with the readings are popular carols for choir and congregation. The service traditionally begins with the singing of the processional hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City” followed by a worship carol medley “The Celebration of Christmas”, which the choir leads along with congregational participation.
Along with other traditional carols are more recent works such as ‘Let all mortal flesh keep silence’, ‘Cradle Song (Away in a Manger)’, ‘And the song goes on’, ‘The Angel Gabriel’ etc. The service concludes with the magnificent ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ and perennial recessional hymn ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’.
