The Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), will combine two national competitions as they hold the 94th Clifford Cup and the Youth Championship, both at Sahas Uyana in Kandy. Both competitions will simultaneously take place at the same venue from December 18 to 22 from 2:00pm daily.

The 94th BASL Men and Women Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament is expected to bring together Sri Lanka’s finest boxers for a thrilling display of skill, strength, and sportsmanship. The tournament will adhere to IBA (International Boxing Association) rules effective from March 3 of this year, ensuring a world-class standard of competition. This prestigious event is the second major BASL tournament hosted outside Colombo this year, following the successful Layton Cup semi-finals and finals held at Negombo Beach Park in October.

The competition spans multiple weight categories for both categories, where men will compete under 13 weight classes and women, under 12 weight classes in the tournament which is open to boxers aged between 19 and 40.

The BASL will hold the Youth Men and Women Boxing Championship for the General Jagath Jayasuriya Trophy, will be held alongside the 94th Clifford Cup. This youth boxing tournament is open to male and female boxers aged 17 and 18 years, born between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2007. Unlike other competitions, no prior qualifications are required to participate, ensuring a wide representation of young talent from across the nation.

This event encompasses an array of weight categories, starting from Minimum Weight to Super Heavyweight for men and women. The competition provides a structured and fair playing field for all participants to display their prowess in line with internationally recognised boxing standards.
