St. Benedict’s College secured a narrow first-innings victory over Richmond College in their Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter, which concluded yesterday at Kotahena. Resuming from their overnight score of 64 for 3 in response to Richmond’s total of 220, the Bens posted 232. Richmond, batting for the second time, reached 97 for 1 before rain brought an early end to the match.

Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte, also claimed a first-innings win in their match against St. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela at Pelawatta. Half-centuries from Vimath Dinsara, Thevindu Wewalwala, and Isula Geeganage put Royal College, Colombo, in a strong position at the end of day one at Reid Avenue. They reached an impressive 285 for 5 against Gurukula, Kelaniya.

Christ King College, Ja-Ela, and Hindu College, Colombo, held the upper hand in their respective matches at stumps on the first day. Christ King faced Siri Piyaratana, Padukka, while Hindu College squared off against Royal, Horana.
