“Lovers’ Quarrel” to be a three-day affair
The agreement to play the annual “Lovers’ Quarrel” big match between Mahinda College and Richmond College, Galle as a three-day encounter from 2025 onwards will be formally signed tomorrow (16) at the Olcott Hall of Mahinda College. The annual encounter, which will be held for the 120th time next year, had been played as a two-day game up to now. The agreement to play the big match as a three-day encounter from 2025 will be signed by Mahinda College Principal Janaka Peduruhewa, Richmond College Principal P.S. Pushpakumara and the secretaries of the Old Boys’ Associations of the two schools. The secretaries of the College Development Societies of the two schools will serve as witnesses. Two former international cricketers – Champaka Ramanayake from Richmond College and Upul Chandana from Mahinda College will be chief guests at the ceremony while President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Shammi Silva will be a special guest. The 120th Mahinda-Richmond big match will be played on April 3, 4 and 5 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
