APIIT Graduation 2024
View(s):Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT Sri Lanka), one of the largest providers of foreign degrees in the country, held its annual Graduation at the main hall of the BMICH on Friday, 13th December 2024.
The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest Ms. Joanne Owens-Crook, Head of Collaborative Academic Partnerships, University of Staffordshire, UK and Mr. Bernhard Stefan, Managing Director of Nestlé Lanka PLC as the Guest of Honour.
At the event, a total of 469 students received undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Business, Computing and Law from University of Staffordshire, UK.
The event marked the awarding of degrees in BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Cyber Security, BSc (Hons) International Business Management, LLB (Hons) Law, Master of Business Administration, LLM International Business Law, and MSc Computer Science (Business Computing).
The ceremony celebrated the success of 96 students receiving First Class Honours degrees, 155 students receiving Second Class (1st Division) degrees, and 61 postgraduate students receiving degrees with Distinctions.
The Gold Medallists this year are Mihidukulasuriya Adrian Mark Joel Fernando from BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, Flora Melani Shehara Pandithasekera from BSc (Hons) Computer Science, Edirisinghe Arachchilage Danushi Shonali Hope from BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Top Up), Rupasinghe Arachchilage Lihansa Minradie Jayasinghe from BSc (Hons) Cyber Security, Fathima Tehzeeb Bishri from BSc (Hons) International Business Management, Samaa Shazuli from LLB (Hons) Law, Rathnayaka Mudiyanselage Ranuli Anuradha Weerabahu from Master of Business Administration, Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Shanuki Thiyagini Dehigama Dissanayake from LLM International Business Law, and Yashora Thewuni Jayamanne from MSc Computer Science (Business Computing). Edirisinghe Arachchilage Danushi Shonali Hope obtained the highest aggregate of the outgoing class of 2024.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Joanne Owens-Crook congratulated the graduates, emphasising the importance of lifelong learning, and encouraged them to reflect on how they could leverage their experiences to positively influence both their workplaces and their communities. The Guest of Honour, Mr Bernhard Stefan commended the graduates in his address and emphasized that passion and enjoyment in their work would be the key to achieving success, finding happiness, and making a lasting impact as they embark on their chosen careers.
Mr. Bandula Egodage, Chairman of APIIT Sri Lanka extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and stated, “The world may push you to chase perfect resumes or flawless careers, but we encourage you to look for more meaningful purpose. A sense of purpose is what will sustain you during challenging times and inspire you to contribute meaningfully to the world. Whether you become an entrepreneur, a scientist, an artist, or a community leader, let your actions be guided by the values and passion that define you”.
