AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led organisation, striving to develop the leadership potential of young people through experiential learning, cross-cultural internship and volunteering exchanges, and engaging projects. Rooted in its vision to achieve peace and the fulfillment of humankind’s potential, AIESEC creates opportunities for youth to step out of their comfort zones, make an impact, and drive positive change.

At AIESEC in University of Sri Jayewardenepura, embodies this mission by empowering students to lead initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  One such initiative is Helping Hearts, a blood donation campaign held on 10th of December at University of Sri Jayewardenepura premises. The project was aimed at providing a safe, pure, and adequate blood supply for patients in need. Aligned with SDG 03 – Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, this project stood for a selfless act of giving, ensuring patients in diverse communities receive the gift of life.

With an impressive turnout of donors and participants, the campaign was a resounding success. AIESEC members created a welcoming atmosphere for donors, ensuring they felt valued and supported. Beyond the blood donation, the event’s marketing campaign raised awareness about the critical need for donations, amplifying its impact.

This initiative was made possible through the support of healthcare professionals from the National Blood Bank, event partners, and all those who contributed their time and effort.  By prioritising the well-being of others, “Helping Hearts” stands as a testament to the spirit of giving and the transformative power of kindness.

AIESEC in University of Sri Jayewardenepura continues to lead the way in inspiring young leaders to drive meaningful change, ensuring a healthier, more equitable world for everyone.
