He’s in from the snows and out for more. Mountaineer Johann Peries is looking to plant the lion flag on the Seven Summits –  the highest mountains in the seven continents. The well known hairstylist turned mountaineer, the first Sri Lankan man to reach the summit of Everest, now has new heights on his sights.

Johann Peries

Having already climbed Everest (Asia), Elbrus (Europe), Kilimanjaro (Africa) and Kosciuszko (Australia), in January he will set out to Mount Vinson in the blue Antarctica.

He also plans to climb Mount Aconcagua (South America) in February and Denali (North America) in May, to join the 350 people across the globe who have accomplished this feat.

Announcing his mission at ‘Colombo’s own peak’- the Cinnamon Life building, Johann had tears on his eyes as he spoke of his late father who inspired him.

“This journey is not only about reaching the top of the world’s highest peaks; it is about showcasing the strength and spirit of Sri Lanka. I want to encourage every Sri Lankan to believe in themselves, to embrace challenges, and to pursue their dreams, no matter how high they may seem.”

Johann is being sponsored by a Dutch philanthropist who wishes to stay anonymous.
