The Court of Appeal extended the injunction order preventing Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers’ Association (SLADA) from holding its election until January 22, 2025, when the case was taken before Judges Bandula Karunaratne and Sashi Mahendran. The two-judge bench ordered the petitioners to submit their written submissions, after Attorney at-Law Akheel Deen, who appeared on behalf of the petitioners explained that the Election Committee appointed by the Director General of Sports had caused injustice to affiliations of SLADA by preventing the opportunity from untilising their voting rights. He further explained that such affiliated clubs of SLADA should be guaranteed to their rights to submit nominations and cast votes, and until that is assured the election should be withheld from proceeding. Senior Solicitor General Manohara Jayasinghe appeared on behalf of the plaintiff Shemal Fernando, the Director General of Sport.
