Sri Lanka win 16 trophies at UCMAS International Competition in New Delhi
View(s):The UCMAS Sri Lanka contingent was successful in winning 16 championship titles, 16 first runners-up and 20 second runners-up trophies at the UCMAS International Level Abacus Competition held in New Delhi. The Sri Lanka team was also successful in winning the Bronze Trophy amongst the many international participants at the World Cup held.
A total of 103 students representing Sri Lanka participated at the UCMAS International Competition. Among them, 52 participants were successful in winning trophies.
“This a great and historical win for Sri Lanka”, the President and CEO of UCMAS Sri Lanka, Shankar Vijay Sivashankar, stated.
“Our students successfully competed with more than 6000 competitors from 30 countries and showed their prowess. I greatly appreciate their dedication, skill and commitment. Our vision is to give the best to our children and we went through great challenges to achieve this. We are committed towards giving to our country and children, who will be tomorrow’s leaders”, he added.
Whilst on their return flight from New Delhi, the Sri Lankan team was privileged to meet the country’s President onboard. The President greatly appreciated the talents of the students while congratulating their achievements.
UCMAS is a the world’s leading Brain Development Programme for children using the abacus and is hosted in 84 countries, through 8000 centres benefitting over three million children globally. UCMAS Sri Lanka currently has over 75 active centres islandwide, with thousands of children enrolled.
