Friends of Sustainable Development wins Golden Planet Award
View(s):The Friends of Sustainable Development (FSD) were presented the ‘Golden Planet Award’ recently.
Dr Manfred Florian Welker, Head of BWA (Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade) and Member of Parliament of Germany, and Astrid Arens, President of the Voice Aid Foundation and Founder of DIPESH (Digital International Platform for Environment, Sustainability and Humanity) from Germany were the VIP guests at the ceremony held at the BMICH. Also present was Rupika Rajakaruna, NGO Coordinator for the Galle District.

The award was in The Social Hero Category for 2024, awarded by DIPESH Germany in association with the Voice Aid Association.
Dr Welker said that although he had made several social visits to Sri Lanka previously, this time he is here to open doors to support and strengthen economic, educational, cultural and social development in Sri Lanka.
Alisha Abeywickrama was appointed as BWA’s lead representative in the country.
Ms Rajakaruna addressed the gathering. FSD Member Leel Seneviratne gave the vote of thanks.
