Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s wife has requested the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to allow her to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Mrs Rambukwella is barred from travelling abroad and an investigation into the properties acquired by members of the Rambukwella family is currently ongoing.

Having considered her request, the CIABOC has asked Mrs Rambukwella to provide details regarding the nature of the illness that requires her to travel abroad for medical treatment.

She has been asked to provide letters from doctors in Sri Lanka recommending her travel abroad for medical treatment and to provide details on the timeframe needed for her treatment and when she expects to return to Sri Lanka.

The Bribery Commission has so far frozen 16 bank accounts and three transactions relating to insurance policies belonging to members of the Rambukwella family.
