Dilmah and J’Pura Uni sign MoU

A memorandum of understanding between the Dilmah One Earth Center, Moratuwa and the Department of Urban Bioresources, Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was signed recently.

The department is structured to develop partnerships with state and industrial institutes in the relevant fields to carry out teaching, research and entrepreneurial activities leading to bioeconomy development, liaise with overseas institutes to develop appropriate technology for sustainable bioresources management, the university said.

The Dilmah One Earth Centre is one of Dilmah Conservation’s education and outreach centers which is an initiative to cater to the recreational and efficient exhibition for urbanised surroundings.

Their core idea of conserving the natural environment is a great place to teach university students to be responsible about the aesthetic and functional value of nature.

The collaboration, promoting the sustainable use of the environment, would be a fruitful union for both institutions to achieve a sustainable, productive and quality outcome.

Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company Chairman Dilhan Fernanado and University of Sri Jayewardenepura Vice Chancellor Snr Prof Pathmalal Manage attended the signing of the MoU.

Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources Dean Snr Prof Pradeep Jayaweera, Department of Urban Bioresources Head Dr Surani Chathurika, Department of Urban Bioresources Senior Lecturer Dr Udari Rathnathunga, Department of Urban Bioresources Senior Lecturer Dr Anusha Ekanayake, Dilmah Conservation & Sustainability Manager Rishan Sampath, Agricultural Innovations Nucleus Manager Anuradha Ranasinghe, One Earth Centre Moratuwa Coordinator Prasad Tharanga, and Department of Urban Bioresources Temporary Lecturer Amandra Senadilankara were also present.
