Exams Chief Amith Jayasundara yesterday said the 2024 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination paper marking meeting had been scheduled for tomorrow.

The marking process is expected to conclude within 40 days, with the aim of completing it by the first week of February.

“Although I mentioned a 40-day timeframe, I will do my utmost to complete the process sooner. I am mindful of the inconvenience caused to the students who sat for the examination, as the leaked questions have already disrupted their education,” Mr. Jayasundara emphasised.

Mr. Jayasundara said a decision has been taken to award free marks to all students for the three questions in consultation with the Attorney General on Thursday.

Mr. Jayasundara told the Sunday Times that his decision aligned entirely with the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court ensuring both its accuracy and legality. “Since there were some aspects of the decision I needed to clarify, I sought the Attorney General’s opinion, and now everything has been resolved,” he said.
