A 15-year-old school boy had invented a sensory device to repel langur and macaque monkeys and other such pests.
The device repels animals by emitting sounds and smells. The chemical released by the device also gives the animals a burning and unpleasant sensation making them immediately flee the area.

The inventor of the device, Lithula Thewsara de Silva, is a Grade 10 English medium student of Manthumahla, Karunaratne Buddhist National School. The student displayed his knack for new inventions under the guidance of school principal Nijamali Palika, teachers of the school, as well as the assistant principal and in-charge of new inventions unit, Dhananjaya Waidyasekara.

The student is planning to obtain a patent certificate for his new invention.
