Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) men and Sri Lanka Air Force women claimed the national titles at the Munchee Super League 74th National Volleyball Championship 2024, organised by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and held at the Sir Elbert F. Peiris Indoor Stadium in Wennappuwa yesterday.

The SLPA secured a powerful 3-0 victory over Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) in the Men’s final. Despite facing strong resistance from CEB, the Portsmen dominated with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 25-21, showcasing their superior skills and teamwork.

In the Women’s final, the Airwomen clinched their seventh national crown, defeating SLPA 3-1 in a spellbinding encounter. They started strong, winning the first two sets 25-12 and 25-20, with clinical attacks and solid defence.

The Ports Authority women mounted a remarkable comeback in the third set, stunning the Airwomen with a decisive 25-14 win, thanks to powerful spikes and clever plays. However, Air Force regained their composure in the fourth set, sealing the match with a 25-19 victory.

The Air Force women reached the final defeating Casualine Mawathagama in the semi-final, while the SLPA women’s team booked their place by overcoming
Sri Lanka Army. In the third-place playoff, Sri Lanka Army women emerged victorious against MAS Casualine.
