Pasindu Sooriyabandara slammed an unbeaten double century to help Moors SC dominate Tamil Union on day two of the Major Club 3-day encounter at the P. Sara Stadium yesterday. Sooriyabandara’s 200 not out, which came off 294 balls, included 18 boundaries and three sixes. He was involved in two valuable partnerships — a 79-run stand for the fifth wicket with Sithara Gimhan and a 94-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Ramesh Mendis. Moors SC declared after reaching a formidable total of 476 for 8 after resuming from their overnight score of 327 for 5. Tamil Union ended the day on 146 for 2.

At NCC, centuries by Lahiru Udara, who smashed 142 with 18 boundaries and four sixes, and Ahan Wickramasinghe, who scored 105 with 10 boundaries, propelled their team to 425 for 6 before declaring, in reply to BRC’s first innings total of 226. Udara was involved in three key partnerships — an opening stand of 56 with Niroshan Dickwella, a 50-run second-wicket partnership with Kamil Mishara, and a 167-run third-wicket stand with Wickramasinghe.
