Invasive but pretty: Water hyacinth blooms
View(s):The blossoming of flowers on the lake located in the Anamaduwa town has added beauty to the area.
The lake, next to a children’s park, has drawn visitors to the area to witness the beauty.
Water hyacinth is a free-floating perennial; one of the fastest-growing plants commonly known as Japan Jabara.
The spread of the plant, considered an invasive species, has affected the entire lake.
The dried plant is used as a compost fertiliser.
