‘Ananthaya Sara’ A fitting Birthday tribute to Master Khemadasa

Khemadasa Foundation, Sri Lanka Navy Orchestra, a group of Sri Lankan vocalists including some veterans together with British conductor Colin Jagger will come together to ‘celebrate’ the birthday of Sri Lanka pioneer musician Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa with an evening of his masterpieces at 7.30 pm on January 25 at Nalanda College Auditorium.
The concert, a presentation of ‘Khemadasa Foundation’, is titled ‘Ananthaya Sara’ to commemorate the 88th birth anniversary of Dr. Khemadasa.
This special evening of music will go on the board with a special performance of ‘Sinhala Avuruddha’ or ‘New Year Symphony’ at the show. The British conductor Colin Jagger will specially be flown down to Sri Lanka to conduct the symphony which was originally composed by Master Khemadasa in 1967 and conducted the music in a live show. In addition to the symphony, a group of Sri Lanka vocalists T. M. Jayaratne, Mihindu Ariyaratne, Pradeepa Dharmadasa and Sandya Bulathsinghala will perform together with Sri Lankan Navy Orchestra.
‘Sri Lankan Navy Orchestra and we (Khemadasa Foundation) will be performing under a different conductor. I am grateful to Prof. Jagger for volunteering to join for this show’ said Gayathri Khemadasa, the daughter of Dr. Khemadasa.
