The Senarath Paranavithana Research and Teaching Museum will remain closed until a final report from the Criminal Investigation Department is forwarded to the judiciary over the disappearance of some items.
University of Peradeniya vice chancellor professor Terrance Madhujith said he seeks the cooperation of the staff and the public until this museum is reopened after an inventory is taken of the exhibits.
A complaint had been lodged by an academic that ivory ear picks were found missing from the museum and the CID was called to investigate. The investigation has been concluded and the report has to be filed.
The museum will remain closed until a final decision is made by the university, vice chancellor Madhujith said.
