Panadura SC takes crucial lead in high scoring game
Half centuries from Rumesh Buddika, Shalith Fernando, and Oshada Fernando propelled Panadura SC to a strong position against Colts on the second day of the SLC Major Club 3-day cricket tournament at the Panadura Esplanade yesterday.
Responding to Colts’ first-innings total of 345, Panadura SC managed to post 366, securing a slender but crucial lead in the high scoring encounter. Resuming on 69 without loss, the hosts were bolstered by two vital partnerships — a 72-run stand between Oshada Fernando and Irosh Samarasooriya for the opening wicket and a massive 162-run fifth-wicket stand between Rumesh Buddika and Shalith Fernando.
Meanwhile, at the SSC grounds, CCC put up a strong reply to SSC’s first innings score of 369. Contributions from Lasith Croospulle, Minod Bhanuka, and Pawan Ratnayake—each registering half-centuries—helped CCC reach 264 for 2 by stumps. All matches are set to continue today.
