Renown Blues, Colombo Kickerz record wins at UTF Junior League Week 2
Renown Football Academy Blues and Colombo Kickerz FA continued their form in the ‘Unity Through Football’ (UTF) Junior Football League, as the second week games came to a close at the Lalith Athulathmudali Ground in Kirulopane yesterday. Renown FA Blues thrashed Cooray Football Academy by 5-0 while Colombo Kickerz overcame Java Lane Football Academy by 3-1, as both teams recorded their second wins to remain unbeaten in the competition.
The Week 2 games of Sri Lanka’s first ever junior football league was hosted by Henry Pedris Football Academy, where Renown FA Blues beat Cooray FA by 5-0 after leading 2-0 at half time in the opening game. The goal scorers for Renown Blues were M. Akram Ahamed, who scored a hat trick, Rishi Anuhas Wedisinghe and Siyam Mohomed Shaffaq. Ahamed of Renown was named the Player of the Match for his stupendous performance.
In the second game Colombo Kickerz beat Java Lane FA by 3-1, after leading 2-0 at half time with Player of the Match Dhevin Jeewandara scoring twice. Java Lane pulled back a goal through Mohamed Shakeek but Afthi Ashraff scored for Kickerz to seal their victory. In the third match hosts Henry Pedris FA met Renown FA Whites to end the game in a scoreless draw. S.K. Rishi of Henry Pedris FA was named the Player of the Match.
The UTF Junior League is organised by Renown Football Academy, one of Sri Lanka’s leading football academies and is backed by their International award-winning project Unity Through Football. The project is supported by several international entities including national associations, clubs and foundations. The third week of the League will be hosted by Colombo Kickerz next weekend.
