The World Press Photo Exhibition 2024 is currently in Sri Lanka on its worldwide tour, a much awaited return to the country after 21 years. “Showcasing the stories that matter”, the exhibition is currently on in Jaffna (January 24-27) at the Jaffna Cultural Centre and will then move to Galle (January 31 –February 2) at the Galle Municipal Hall.
The exhibition comes back to Colombo for a final few days from February 8 – 10 at The Forum, Cinnamon Life.
“Presenting the results of the 2024 World Press Photo Contest, the annual exhibition showcases the best and most important photojournalism and documentary photography of 2024”, the exhibition website states.
Such is the prestige of the contest that some 61,000 entries were submitted by 3,581 photographers from 130 countries. An independent jury comprising 31 professionals from around the world picked the winners whose images are now on display.
The World Press Photo Exhibition is presented in
Sri Lanka by the Netherlands Embassy, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI).
The exhibition is open from 10.30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
