3,915 dengue cases for this month while 19 MOH areas flagged as high risk

The number of suspected dengue cases reported for this month, up to last Friday, has risen to 3,915, the National Dengue Control Unit of the Health Ministry said.

In the third week, 1,158 cases were reported as against 1,249 in the previous week.

Of the reported cases, 46.8 percent were from the Western province, with Colombo district 28 percent (including 12.6 from the Colombo Municipal area), Gampaha district 14.1 percent, and Kalutara district 4.7 percent.

The other districts that reported a high number of cases were Ratnapura (7.6 percent), Batticaloa (7.1 percent), and Kandy (6.7 percent).

In the third week of this month, 19 MOH areas were flagged as high risk while 12 MOH areas showed rising numbers. Wattala, Nugegoda, Mahara, Mutur, Kopay, Balangoda, and Hambantota were among the newly flagged high-risk MOH areas.
